GeMiC 2012: the 7th German Microwave Conference, to be held at Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany, on 12-14 March 2012

Following the success of previous editions, the German Institute for Microwave and Antenna Technologies (IMA) in association with the German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (VDE) and the European Microwave Association (EuMA) is pleased to announce the 7th German Microwave Conference, GeMiC 2012, to be held in Ilmenau, Germany, on 12-14 March 2012, at Ilmenau University of Technology.

GeMiC 2012 presents, through its presentations, workshops, and forums, unique opportunities to exchange scientific and technical information, to establish and foster collaboration and cooperation in the microwave domain, and to promote young engineering researchers, both at German and international levels.

About 150 peer-reviewed papers will cover 11 topical fields of major relevance for the microwave community. A maximum of three parallel sessions and predominantly oral presentations facilitate efficient exploitation of information. The informal atmosphere provides an ideal ground to create new ideas and grasp the latest developments in the field.

Plenary Speakers

Three highly renowned experts from the microwave and antenna fields have kindly confirmed to share their views and visions with the conference attendees. The keynotes will be provided by Prof. Stefano Maci (Univ. of Siena, Italy) on “Metasurfing: a new approach to the design of artificial-surface devices”, by Dr. Tomas Palacios (IEEE MTT Distinguished Microwaver Lecturer, MIT, Cambridge, USA) on “Graphen-based RF electronics”, and by Dr. Frederic Villain (NXP, France) on “The challenges of cognitive radio”.

Workshops and forums

A number of scientific and technical workshops will be organized as part of the conference program. The workshop topics will find favourable support by forums that stimulate open discussion with experts from academia and industry. Foreseen topics to be addressed include high-precision microwave measurements, RF-MEMS design and simulation, Ka-band satellite communications, and cognitive radio.

Social Events

The conference attendees may enjoy carefully selected social events, to let you taste the charming and cultural environment of Thuringia. Lab tours to some of the modern research facilities of Ilmenau University of Technology will also be offered. Around the conference program plenty of opportunities for leisure or cultural activities wait to be discovered by the conference delegates and accompanying persons.

If you know Ilmenau already, you may rightly expect another conference worth your attendance. If you don’t, GeMiC 2012 will be the right occasion for a first appointment.

All of us from the local organising team are looking forward to meeting you at GeMiC 2012 at Ilmenau University of Technology.
