Recognizing glass surface alteration is easy! Identifying as well as understanding the reasons and avoiding or removing damages requires long own experience and exchange of ideas with other experts. What grade of alteration is tolerable? How and when glass is to be cleaned? Does cleaning pay off? That is why we initiated “Living Glass Surfaces”.
We invite you
to meet at the Ilmenau University of Technology to discuss with other experts on early stages of glass surface alteration and on the impact of these reactions on the processing of glass products. Surface issues are critical for many sophisticated applications of glasses, e.g. in compounds, with functional coatings, as container materials and in all cases which require extremely stable conditions.
On the focus this year
The sustainable and ecological footprint of glass processing e.g. the impact of cleaning on environment will be discussed - as well as the footprint in the glass surface that is left by glass treatment and handling.
