Welcome

The 2nd MacroNano-Colloquium which is hosted by the Junior Research Group Functionalised Peripherics of the BMBF Center for Innovation Competence MacroNano aims on bringing together recognized international experts who will cover aspects of ceramic material development, RF & microwave packaging, harsh environment applications and 3D-structuring for microfluidic devices. Specific topics include thermal management, microwave design and packaging as well as reliability. The MacroNano-Colloquium is embedded in the program of the 54th International Scientific Colloquium and will be combined with the Project Status Seminar of the project KERAMIS II.

The German BMWI/DLR project KERAMIS II (Oct. 06 - Mar. 11) stands for the continued R&Dactivities of an industrial-academic consortium of partners experienced with the design, development, and fabrication of compact microwave modules based on the ceramic multilayer technology LTCC (low-temperature cofired ceramic) for satellite communications at Ka-band frequencies. Specific challenges of the project are: To control the high structural precision required for industrial components for space-based microwave applications - To balance fabrication issues and microwave performance, and - To demonstrate full space qualification. For this purpose, specific flight experiments are under development, which shall be implemented on board of a test satellite and remote tested in space.
